Frequently Asked Questions!
1) What Kind of wood do you use?
I use almost exclusively cedar from Manitoulin Island it gives the nicest finish and lasts the longest.

2) Will it crack?
Yes all carvings are done from whole logs and as the wood dries it shrinks causing cracking sealing it will help but not entirely prevent cracking.

3) What do you seal it with?
I use Helmsman Spar varnish which is a marine varnish that really makes the carving look great, I always put 3 coats on the carving

4) You seem to run your chain loose.
I use Cannon carving bars and the tips of the bars do not have a sprocket just harened metal so the chain has to run loose so when the bar heats up it doesnt bind the chain.

5) How long have you been doing this?
26 years I was lucky enought have a great carver, named Luke Andrews teach me how to carve a bear and I have been at it ever since.

6) Why do you use Echo Saws?
They last and last I have never been able to wreck one and carving is very hard on a saw.

7) Where are you located?
I am in Massey Ontario.

8) Do you do shows?
Yes I have done the Woodstock Farm Show, the International Plowing Match hundreds of open houses and fairs.

Yes I have so stop asking HA!

10 Do you do stump carvings?
Yes I have done in the past and will in the future, I do all kinds of animals and love doing Owls and Eagles but also do Wolves and Bears and so much more!
